Acoustic Romantic 45 For The Jukebox In Your Heart

Acoustic Romantic 45 For The Jukebox In Your Heart

The debut recording of our acoustic "sideproject" (unimaginatively with the same name as the mainband). The first release with Tommi on board, he being the midwife for this little vinyl. Recorded by Ilai of sissy spacek/Kirlian Crossing/Siniaalto -fame during one lovely day in spring 2003. Anu laid her hands on grand piano, Tommi not only banged the drums but delivered some mighty glockenspiel-action and Anu's sister Jaana, a regular feature on our acoustic shows, played those beautiful violin melodies. This was also Esa's sadly missed acoustic bass' last stand.

Released on October 17th, 2003 by If Society

Summermoon

Slightly haunting yet upbeat tune, sort of a sequel or seasonal update to "Late Autumn Early Winter". Initially inspired by mighty Grant Lee Buffalo, though in some people final version has evoked scarier associations of certain recent Finnish film theme song... Was conceived and first performed during winter 02-03 and release delayed to following autumn, so our "summer hit" calculations went terribly wrong, as always...

Lyrics

"summer moon caught you in a lie
summer moon shone silver in the sky

as I went for you I knew it was too late
the night had covered swiftly all your trails

but moonlight will follow you
you must feel it too
moonlight will find the truth from these silent woods

summer moon led me through the night
summer moon shone silver in the sky

and when I found you, frail, inanimate
flies were humming softly in the shade

and now moonlight will follow you
it will always stay true
moonlight will follow you
you can never fool it
moonlight will find you
summer moon"

Dreaming Of The Ultimate Girl

One of the oldest songs in our repertoire, this composition by Esa came into existence in 1995. During its eight-year journey into the surface of a vinyl, it has changed surprisingly little - only the violin and glockenspiel are more recent additions. The lyrics represent a certain kind of wistful high school romanticism (so practically nothing has changed during the years!) -the ultrapathetic title comes from Jack Keroauc's poem "Rimbaud" and there's a line stolen from Rimbaud himself somewhere in there (though sentimentalism of this song would have certainly made Jean Arthur puke...).

Lyrics

rain falls down her shoulders
her hair moves in slow motion
under sad dark sky her eyes
mirror all that glows inside
she dissolves so softly
her figure still and sublime
but I know all this will flow

there's a horizon between us
but armed with glowing patience
I will cross these cursed spaces
following her dim traces
and with a hint of a smile
she'll lighten the whole sky
it's getting closer every time

all alone, I'm standing on a brink
dreaming of the ultimate girl
but never believing in the world I don't belong

I can't give you more
than dreams I have let grown
yet time is always on our side
as we are out of reach forever

all alone, I'm standing on a brink
dreaming of the ultimate girl
all alone, I'm standing on a brink
dreamíng of the ultimate girl
you're so alone
dreaming of the ultimate girl
but never believing in the world I don't belong
