One of the oldest songs in our repertoire, this composition by Esa came into existence in 1995. During its eight-year journey into the surface of a vinyl, it has changed surprisingly little - only the violin and glockenspiel are more recent additions. The lyrics represent a certain kind of wistful high school romanticism (so practically nothing has changed during the years!) -the ultrapathetic title comes from Jack Keroauc's poem "Rimbaud" and there's a line stolen from Rimbaud himself somewhere in there (though sentimentalism of this song would have certainly made Jean Arthur puke...).

Lyrics

rain falls down her shoulders
her hair moves in slow motion
under sad dark sky her eyes
mirror all that glows inside
she dissolves so softly
her figure still and sublime
but I know all this will flow

there's a horizon between us
but armed with glowing patience
I will cross these cursed spaces
following her dim traces
and with a hint of a smile
she'll lighten the whole sky
it's getting closer every time

all alone, I'm standing on a brink
dreaming of the ultimate girl
but never believing in the world I don't belong

I can't give you more
than dreams I have let grown
yet time is always on our side
as we are out of reach forever

all alone, I'm standing on a brink
dreaming of the ultimate girl
all alone, I'm standing on a brink
dreamíng of the ultimate girl
you're so alone
dreaming of the ultimate girl
but never believing in the world I don't belong
